Antivirus Software

The Internet is an incredible resource, but at the same time is also an ideal conduit for the spread of computer viruses. The rate at which new viruses are created continues to grow daily and over 80,000 currently exist. This means that you must not only install, but also update your antivirus software regularly to be protected. If you do not update your definitions regularly, you will not be protected from viruses!

Bethel has a site license for Mcafee VirusScan, which allows any current Bethel student to download and install it free of charge. If you have antivirus installed and wish to use McAfee VirusScan instead, you must remove your old virus software first, as using multiple virus scanners will create problems on your computer.

NOTE: New computers usually come with antivirus software already installed, but the license usually expires within 6 months at which time the software stops updating. If you think your subscription has expired or are not sure if you have a virus scanner, please renew your subscription or get a different virus scanner. (such as McAfee VirusScan).
