- Check your computer manufacturer's website for
information about Windows Service Pack 2.
- Check your computer for viruses and spyware and remove
if necessary.
- Install any drivers and software recommended by
computer's manufacturer. Failure to follow the manufacturer's
recommendations may render your computer unusable.
The main problems people encounter with Service Pack 2 are
related to not applying the computer manufacturer's pre- installation
updates. Many HP and Compaq computers require updates before
installing SP2. Additionally some of your software may not
work correctly after installation. Consult the website of
the software's developer for more information and patches
related to Service Pack 2.
You may also goto the Microsoft
SP2 Support Center for more information, including:
For those living on-campus, the Resident Director (RD) or
Resident Assistant (RA) of your hall will have a CD containing
SP2 available for you to check out. Due to the fact that SP2
is very large and downloading it would cause unneeded network
slowdown, the CD is the recommended way to install SP2 for
those that live on-campus.
Others may download SP2 from the Windows
Update website.
